Dickens’ is recognized a great novelist of character and for a relatively short book it has a large cast of memorable figures.Your job will be to look closely at Sissy Jupe with an eye toward an essay answering these questions: 1) Who is the character and how has Dickens’ presented her? 2) What does this character contribute to the meaning of the novel? The character will need to be firmly grounded in the words and events of the novel itself. When writing ask yourself, “What is my point?” and ” What am I trying to prove about this character?”
